Your budget, your rules

October 27, 20263 repos64 commits

Set a daily or monthly spending limit and your account stops paid sending before your budget runs out, plus SMS settings for cost control, SMS forwarding to whole groups and sender ID registration in nine more countries.

Chart of a month of spending: without a limit costs run away to €2,890, with a spending limit they stop at €1,000

Spending limits

No more surprise bills. A bug in your code, a loop in a workflow or a leaked API key can burn through your balance overnight. With spending limits you decide how much your account may spend per day and per month, and seven stops paid requests once that amount is reached.

Set your limits

  • Daily limit, monthly limit or both, under Billing in your profile menu
  • Suggestions based on your last 30 days help you find a sensible amount
  • Leave a field empty for no limit, nothing changes for accounts without a limit
  • Every subaccount has its own limit

What happens at the limit

  • The account owner gets an email at 80 % and at 100 %
  • SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, lookups, voice calls and number purchases are refused until the limit resets, via the API SMS requests return code 501
  • Inbound messages and fixed fees such as number renewals still count but are never refused, so your numbers keep running

Always in view

  • One progress bar per period with your spend and the next reset
  • Daily limits reset at midnight, monthly limits on the 1st (CET/CEST)

🆕 Also new

  • Keep your SMS short and cheap - New SMS settings under Settings > Messages: special characters like typographic quotes or accented letters are replaced so your text stays in the GSM character set and needs fewer parts. You can also cap the parts per SMS, set a maximum price per SMS part and choose a default validity for SMS sent without their own ttl.
  • Forward inbound SMS to everyone who needs it - An inbound number now forwards SMS to several phone numbers, contacts and groups at once, including dynamic groups.
  • Bring your WhatsApp Business App history along - When you connect a number in Coexistence mode and agree to share in the Business App, we import your chat history of the last 180 days and your address book. The contacts land in their own group, and a status card on the service overview shows the progress.
  • Register sender IDs in nine more countries - File sender ID pre-registrations for the United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Romania, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Thailand and Ukraine under Settings > Compliance. Your sender list shows the registration status per country at a glance.
  • Rotate API keys - Get a new secret for a REST API key with one click. Label, permissions, environment and expiry date stay the same, the old key stops working immediately.
  • See what your customers share via RCS - Contact cards shared via RCS show up in Conversations and can be saved as a contact with one click, and your RCS webhook receives them in the same format as WhatsApp contacts. Audio and video play right in the chat, and iPhone photos show a preview.

✨ Improved

  • Sender ID pre-registration - Submitted registrations can be changed or deleted until we forward them to the registrar. You see when a held registration can be resubmitted and, for Austria, from which date a registered sender ID can be used.
  • RCS - If every carrier rejected your agent launch, edit the agent, upload a new approval letter and resubmit it right from the dashboard. If Google rejects your verification documents, the dashboard tells you, and fields locked after verification explain why.
  • Server monitoring - Short DNS hiccups no longer trigger an alert right away.

🐛 Fixed

  • Voice keypress webhooks - voice_dtmf webhooks now reach every account that subscribed to them. Before, most accounts received none.
